Today, after watching this movie “Bridge of Spies”, another great movie from the genius Steven Spielberg based on a historic incident “A story of Exchanging spies between Soviet Union (Russia) and USA during Cold war”.
Honestly, “It is a Fabulous Movie”
This movie is one more creative creation from Steven, which made me to think and know more about lot many things.
In my transformation of Life, movies are always played a big role, they have shown a lot of impact on me, and my way of life and they have influenced on me that led to a “change in my Life”. It all started, when I started watching Hollywood movies, these are epic, influential, informative, motivational, and inspirational.
By the definition, Movies are all about Entertainment, people started making films to entertain the human kind and with the time they become part of our life and eventually they started influencing on our daily life, and we believe that “Movies are transformed our lives in many ways”. But, there is a lot of difference between some movies, I would say “All Movies and Serious Movies” (I couldn’t find a better word, please try to understand the difference). This difference changed the meaning and purpose of movies from Entertainment to Information and Knowledge. I would say a simple example that “Most of the Indians and other nationals got knowledge and got to know about things and incidents of the world and society from the movies than reading books and newspapers.” This is that one thing we cannot deny.
“We”, especially Indians, were influenced a lot by movies. We got multiple industries across the states called Bollywood, Tollywood, Kollywood & more. And, we are fascinated by movies, movies are part of our life, but we have never realized that movies are actually changed our “way of living life”, “the way we behave”, “the we hate or love somebody”, “the way we take decisions and our actions and many more” forever…
So, it means we were changed with the movies, our tastes are changed, our fashion has changed, the way we love, and everything has changed. But, here is the serious issue, we have just believed in them just for the sake of entertainment but we have not realized those are actually impacting on our lives because movies are meant to be information and knowledge exchange. It is one more medium and bridge between us and the world that we didn’t see all the time to exchange the knowledge and information. And with the time directors and producers of Indian cinema for that matter any industry encashed from our addiction to movies and our emotions, some made better movies, some manipulated us.
There is a clear difference between Indian movies and Hollywood movies. Hollywood movies so far considered as serious movies, they influence you but at the same time motivates you, they give you better knowledge, they give you a better perspective about one particular thing or an incident and they also inspires to know more i.e. they show impact on your knowledge and we, consider it as true knowledge.
Then why not this is same with the Indian movies? Have you ever thought about this..? Because, your subconscious mind thinks that Hollywood movies are more sophisticated than Indian cinema and they made by genius people after lot of research and study, but this is not same with our movies, because our movies are just a Drama. Because, our directors tend to have one habit that “they make movies by highlighting one particular thing, person or a place” You watch any movie of Indian cinema, even the biopics, romantic and movies on incidents no matter the person is Good or Bad, always the story highlights one particular thing, best example is, the recent movie “Veerappan”, after watching this movie, nobody says Veerappan is a criminal, but says he is a real hero, actually this movie is all about an incident how “one of the most wanted Indian criminal was killed by police intelligence team”. For the sake of saying Veerappan is a criminal but, for your subconscious mind he is a hero, because it is made like that i.e. single focused or highlighting somebody.
But, if you see Hollywood made movies, you are neutral when you watch a movie, you never support somebody and you never judge somebody, because the importance is neutral, they exactly tells about that particular incident, that is why you feel it as “Hollywood movies are more sophisticated”, and that is how we are able to gain the knowledge from those movies, and if you are really connected to that particular movie, you will tend to think more about it, and you will try to know more about that incident or people involved in it. But, ultimately it is influencing us.
So, why am I telling this story,..?
Yes, here we go..! Hollywood movies, as I said they are also not neutral, they also have some patriotism in it, and of course they made by Americans so, they show some scenes and persons are good. For example, in this particular movie “Bridge of Spies” Steven shown that Americans behaved well with Russian Spy than Russians behaved with American Spy. But, still you won’t get that feeling of Americans are good. So, here is the serious issue.! Because all these informative movies are coming from one production hub called Hollywood, and eventually the world is able to know only about that particular country or chunk of countries i.e. USA and European Countries. But, there are lot many countries and they have lot many great stories to tell, truths to reveal, incidents to know, and they also have great history, but because of this lack of skills in direction and opportunity we are not able to know about such things, ultimately we are thinking American and Britain countries are great they are good people, but history says in other way, this difference is because of movies and lack of knowledge and Information. We are losing lot of information and knowledge just because of we don’t have real serious movies as I said, Movies are one of the most popular medium from where we grabs the knowledge, that is why we know only little about this world clearly we know only about USA.
Of course, we Indians have serious movies, great stories, great incidents but, our directors turn them into more of fancy because they wants to earn cash from our emotional character.
Finally, I have to say something. Movies are most influential in our lives, so the world cinema needs to be changed, other parts of the world and countries should get more opportunities, they should also think of producing more serious movies, tell more stories about their countries, people and incidents, for the betterment of the world society and human life instead of only for the entertainment and this can be possible only when all the directors and producers decides to do it, decides to show the truth instead of highlighting only Entertainment.
